ECRAC announces the 2016 season of Community Supported Art (CSA)! Shares on sale now!
ECRAC is pleased to announce the featured artists for the 2016 season of Community Supported Art (CSA), and will begin selling member shares to the public today! The CSA is perfect for starting a local art collection at your business, gift giving or filling your home with fresh, local art.
Member shares cost $250 each for nine pieces of locally made art. Also included are lots of extras, "bumper crop," like theatre tickets, prints from local galleries, free admissions to art workshops, gift certificates to local businesses and other free stuff from our sponsors. The CSA can be purchased by contacting the Eau Claire Regional Arts Center, 715-832-2787.
What is Community Supported Art? Over the last 20 years, Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) has become a popular way for consumers to buy seasonal food directly from local farms. With the same buy-local spirit in mind, are pleased to bring CSA to our community, to support local art, artists and collectors. This local project is modeled on Community Supported Art in Minnesota, created by mnartists.org and Springboard for the Arts.
Shareholders and their families will pick up their shares at three art pick up events: the first pick up event will be July 7, 5-7pm at the Janet Carson Gallery; the second pick up event will be at the VolumeOne Sounds Like Summer Concert Series in Phoenix Park on August 4 from 6-8:30pm, and the third pick up event will be on August 31, 5-8pm at Artisan Forge Studios. It is not mandatory that shareholders attend all art pick-up events but way more fun if they do. There will be food, music and friends at each of these events. You will also meet our CSA artists; they will talk about their process and give you a deeper appreciation of their art.
The 9 artists selected this summer are Sandra Cress, illustrator; Jane Foos, fabric artist; Jessica Mongeon, painter and photographer; Crysten Nesseth, metal sculptor; Nancy Dutmer, fabric artist; Hope Greene, photographer; Elizabeth Larson, watercolor artist; Patti See, author; Revay Henneman, potter. For images of these artists' work go to our website: www.eauclairearts.com or our Facebook page: Community Supported Arts in Eau Claire, WI
The CSA artist selection took place in a secret, sound-proofed room above the State Theatre which is designated only for jurying art. The CSA jury consisted of seven influential arts advocates: Rose Dolan-Neill, Director of Visual Arts at the Eau Claire Regional Arts Center; Erin Roesler and Jamie Kyser, owners of Tangled Up in Hue and founders of the Artist Market of Eau Claire; Jenna Kippes, artist and visual arts intern for ECRAC; Sadie Hamill, visual artist and member of ECRAC's Visual Arts Committee; Tim Barnes, local visual artist and Lindsay Quinnes, Program Manager for the Local Store at Volume One World Headquarters.
The goals of the CSA program are to support artists and to create an engaged community of local arts supporters. CSA supports artists: in the creation of new work, to establish relationships with local collectors and patrons, and to participate in the launch of an exciting new model of art support and distribution. CSA Share member benefits include multiple works of art from local emerging and mid-career artists at a fantastic value! Additionally, CSA Members have the opportunity to develop relationships with the local artists and art community, discover new artists, and explore a variety of disciplines and support artists' careers and a vibrant community.
