Eau Claire Regional Arts Council Announces New Wine & Whimsy Classes
Thursday, May 22nd, 2014
The Eau Claire Regional Arts Council is excited to announce the expansion of Wine & Whimsy painting classes. The demand for the 2.5-hour painting workshop, with friends in front of a canvas with a glass of wine, has increased to over six workshops per month. As a result Wine & Whimsy's professional instructors Jason Anhorn and Joele Klein, who guide participants through the painting of their very own masterpiece, have developed four new themes. The new class themes include: Couples, Mommy (or Daddy) and Me, Intermediate, and Three-Part Series.
"The Couples class is exactly as stated," said Jamie Kane, Wine & Whimsy coordinator. "A workshop geared towards two lovebirds creating individual pieces of art, and when put together make one finished piece. Sweethearts can stand side by side or across the table from each other, and let their affection and creativity be expressed on canvas."
Kane recently started a Wine & Whimsy Facebook page, which has helped spurred the growth of the painting workshops. One of the new Wine & Whimsy Facebook friends suggested a workshop for the whole family - especially children.
"Where else can a parent grab a brush with their kids and paint on a canvas," said Kane. "And not worry about the mess?"
The new Mommy & Me class offers parents the chance to paint with their children seven years and older. The family friendly painting class offers a creative way to bond, while mommy and child enjoy a glass of their favorite "juice" and munchies.
An Intermediate class will offer more in-depth instruction and technique development. It is for the seasoned Wine & Whimsy participant who has the desire to learn more. Topics such as paint-mixing, composition, brushstroke, choice of background colors and achieving distance will be covered in this class. It is the opportunity to learn something a bit more complicated, but just as fun.
"For the painter that wants a challenge beyond the norm of regular Wine & Whimsy, we're offering a Three-Part Series workshop," explained Kane.
In the new second-level introductory class, emphasis is placed on the different stages of the painting process, such as canvas washing through finished painting. Over three weeks, painters learn technique, blending, and form to create a truly spectacular painting.
Wine & Whimsy is the perfect way to learn to paint in a fun and relaxed environment. Everything is provided to create a work of art, and painters take their painting home at the end of the night.
Open to the public. The $35 admission includes a glass of wine and light munchies. Each session is open to a maximum of 12 guests.Wine & Whimsy registration is available online at EauClaireArts.com, by calling 715-832-2787 or in person at 316 Eau Claire Street.
