Comics, Models and More

Eau Claire, WI Rob Mattison exhibits his collection and work along with Tim Bruckner, Chris Gierke, Steve Kurth, and Andrew Ritchie. The exhibit will be on display October 25 through November 29. A meet the artists' reception will take place on Thursday, November 7 from 6 - 7:30pm at the Janet Carson Gallery.  Hors D’oeuvres and a cash bar will be available. Admission is free to the reception as well as the exhibit.

 

Rob Mattison has been producing film and video since early childhood.  He has produced many programs for community and private companies including commercial spots, historical documentaries, short movies and hobby related events. A fan of comic books, monsters, fantasy and sci-fi, Rob also produces and co-hosts Monster Model Review and the role playing review program Game Geeks. Rob works in Learning and Technology services at the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire where he archives old film and tapes, records presentations and produces videos for many different departments on campus.

 

For the last 40 years Tim Bruckner has worked for just about everyone. A partial client list includes: Mattel, Hasbro, Bowen Designs, Sideshow, The Hamilton Group, Hallmark, Applause, American Greetings, Department 56, Harry Nilsson and the Danbury Mint. While under contract to DC Direct, one of his most gratifying professional experiences was designing and sculpting the DC Dynamics line based on the art of J. C. Leyendecker. Recently he’s been heading into retirement, doing personal projects and commissions.

 

Chris Gierke sculpts, builds, paints, cast and molds monster models.  He is a jack of all trades and an excellent model builder.

 

Steve Kurth got started in the comics industry working on G.I. Joe in 2001. He has since been contracted at Marvel and completed work on such series as the sequel to New Universal and Ultimate Comics Armor Wars. He also worked on the ongoing series Iron Man Legacy as well as Uncanny X-Men, Age of X and X-Men vs. Avengers.

 

Andrew Ritchie grew up in rural Eau Claire and graduated from UWEC in 1996 with a degree in illustration. Andrew worked for White Wolf Games for five years and has been published in 26 hard and soft cover books, along with producing a couple covers and cards for a werewolf card game. Recently he has been working for Image, IDW and Boom Studios on such fine comic books as Mystery Society, Creator Owned, Necromimicon and Cthulhu Tales.
