Awards to outstanding arts supporters and contributors

Wednesday, June 13th, 2012

Jubilee 2012 took place at the Florian Gardens on Thursday, June 7 at 6:00pm. During the event, the Eau Claire Regional Arts Council gave out three awards - one each to a business, an artist and an individual - in thanks for their support of the Arts Council this past year. The awards were handcrafted by artist Richard Milheiser especially for this year's Jubilee. The Arts Council would like to make this an annual Jubilee tradition, with a new artist creating a unique award each year.

ECRAC is grateful to all who have given their support to the Arts Council this past year, and narrowing the winners down was difficult. Thus, recent accomplishments and contributions led to the selection of this year's recipients.

In the category of Artist in Support of the Arts, the award was given to Patricia Mayhew Hamm for her support of the Janet Carson Gallery, generous art donations for the Arts Council's benefit and her implementation and encouragement of workshops at the State Theatre.

In the category of Business in Support of the Arts the award was given to Xcel Energy not only for their incredible financial support of the Arts Council, but also for their generous volunteer time - both of which have increased recently and prove their commitment to building a community, and a strong economy, through the arts.

In the category of Individual in Support of the Arts, the award was given to Mel and Leann Breed for their proud parentage of the entire Eau Claire arts community as well as their volunteer time to and financial support of the Eau Claire Regional Arts Council.

This year, the Arts Council also gave a special Lifetime Achievement Award to artist Laurie Bieze for constantly giving of her time and talent to the Eau Claire Regional Arts Council, even when facing challenges in her own life. Bieze was instrumental in the creation and implementation of the Eau Claire Regional Arts Council, and for that they were proud to honor her with this award.
