ECRAC announces 2015 CSA shares on sale

Wednesday, April 8th, 2015

ECRAC announces the 2015 season of Community Supported Art (CSA) shares on sale now!
ECRAC is pleased to announce the featured artists for the 2015 season of Community Supported Art (CSA), the location of its family friendly art pick-up events, and will begin selling member shares to this innovative program today!
What is Community Supported Art? Over the last 20 years, Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) has become a popular way for consumers to buy seasonal food directly from local farms. With the same buy-local spirit in mind, are pleased to bring CSA to our community, to support local art, artists and collectors. This local project is modeled on Community Supported Art in Minnesota, created by and Springboard for the Arts.
Interested art collectors and families will purchase a share from the Eau Claire Regional Arts Center and in return receive 3 "farm boxes" of fresh, locally produced artwork at three art pick-up events this summer. Each member share will contain one piece of art from each of the 9 CSA featured artist works over the summer and will also include "bumper crop" of additional artwork, tickets to the Chippewa Valley Symphony Orchestra, The Eau Claire Children's Theatre, gift certificates for Tangled Up In Hue, family day passes to the YMCA, and other arts opportunities.
The 9 artists selected this year are Lorrinda Benvides, Illustrator; Sandra Cress,Illustrator; Jane Foos, Fabric Artist; Katie Bohn & Christina Doffing are collaborating on Original Paintings; Dick Milheiser, Potter; Jessica Mongeon, Painter; Crysten Nesseth, Sculptor; Jake Ring, Photographer; and Aryn Widule, Printmaker. For images of these artists' work go to our website: or our facebook page: Community Supported Arts in Eau Claire, WI
The CSA artist selection took place in a looked vault buried in the basement of the State Theatre. The CSA jury consisted of five influential arts advocates: Rose Dolan-Neill, Director of Visual Arts at the Eau Claire Regional Arts Center; Jenna Kippes, Artist and Visual Arts intern for ECRAC; Erin Roesler and Jamie Kyser, owners of Tangled Up in Hue and founders of the Artist Market of Eau Claire; and Janae Breunig, graphic designer for Volume One.
The art pick-up venues for the summer will be July 2, 5-8pm in the Janet Carson Gallery; July 30, 6-8pm at the Volume One Sounds Like Summer Concert Series in Phoenix Park; and August 26, 5-7pm at River Bend Vineyard and Winery. It is not mandatory that shareholders attend all art pick-up events but way more fun if you do. At each of these events you will meet our CSA artists. They will talk about their process and give you a deeper appreciation of their art.
Member shares cost $250 each for the season and can be purchased by contacting the Eau Claire Regional Arts Center, 715-832-2787. 30 Shares are on sale and will sell out fast.
The goals of the CSA program are to support artists and to create an engaged community of local arts supporters. CSA supports artists: in the creation of new work, to establish relationships with local collectors and patrons, and to participate in the launch of an exciting new model of art support and distribution. CSA Share member benefits include multiple works of art from local emerging and mid-career artists at a fantastic value! Additionally, CSA Members have the opportunity to develop relationships with the local artists and art community, discover new artists, and explore a variety of disciplines and support artists' careers and a vibrant community.
