Jenna Erickson & Mel Sundby
March 15 - April 20 | 9 AM - 4:30 PM
Jenna Erickson, a 2007 graduate of St. Olaf College in Northfield, MN, who currently resides in Bayfield, WI, describes her multi-media work as: "Like an early land surveyor mapping the contours of the countryside, I respond to personal landmarks... both familiar and unfamiliar. Through the use of universal symbols, surface layers and text, I document ordinary moments and experiences. These observations ask questions and reflect my consideration of wholeness, transition and transparency".
Mel Sundby earned a Master of Fine Arts degree from the University of Iowa in 1969 and has taught in all levels of art education, from primary to graduate school. Sundby has been working with the raku method of glazing his figurative sculptures for over 30 years, where the recently fired objects are placed in a combustable material to reduce and cool, creating a near-infinite variety of glaze effects.
